It is so interesting reading through the tweets from the TECA conference some links are very specific and others are links that lead to hundreds of resources. The first link that was probably the most expansive was the link for all of handouts for the conference (http://www.tcea2012.org/2012/public/Content.aspx?ID=1353&sortMenu=102015). It was so great to have all of this information without paying the price of the conference. A little more specific, one tweet that I found really interesting was a link to 65 interactive whiteboard resources (http://ow.ly/95Ay2). Before reading and discovering this website, I would have never guessed that there were this many interactive white boards out there. Finally, more particular to my subject area, art, there was a tweet about a Google SketchUp tutorial (http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/training/videos/new_to_gsu.html). Great resource to possibly add someday to my curriculum.
eTechOhio Conference
While searching through the eTechOhio Conference Twitter, I found it really great that someone posted about that Pinterest being, “a powerful educational tool (http://bit.ly/yzgOJL).” Pinterest is great for all of its visual information and how quickly you can become engaged in the ideas you find. I am excited to see how this tool excels in the next year. Two other great things that I learned were not new websites or revolutionary software that was going to change the environment and learning of my classroom but it was two great quotes for speakers at the conference. One stated, “I dare you to trust your students and let them lead their own use of technology in the classroom.” The other stated, “Allow yourself to fail in front of the students, be OK with that, and don't blame the technology!” Both of those quotes are what brave and intelligent teachers tell themselves everyday when technology does or does not go according to plan because they know they and their students are still learning either way.
